@caserola, Good! I’m glad. And I’m glad you got to write some! Everything’s another step towards being even better, right? Even if it feels like it’s totally lame. (which it probably isn’t ;))
And, trust me, I’ve wanted my writing to be better(knowing that it really could be) when it wasn’t plenty of times. Which can be… kinda discouraging. And annoying. Like when you flesh out an epic battle followed by a conversation that is too preachy and boring. It’s terrible!
The thing is, first drafts are supposed to be terrible! And second drafts. And, yes, sometimes even third drafts. *glares at the millions of documents that all have basically the same title for this very reason* It’s… kinda their job. Sometimes we can try to be a perfectionist a little too early on in the writing process. Let the first draft be full of mistakes, otherwise the second draft is going to get jealous. 😉
I’ve figured out that a lot of it has to do with your mindset. Like, if you go in expecting it to be perfect, it isn’t, and you’re going to get discouraged. But, if you go in with the idea that this draft is just to get the story out and you’re obviously going to have to rewrite it all anyways(but much better) then you can finally get somewhere. Plus, you can sometimes surprise yourself that something that actually isn’t quite as bad as you were expecting.
So remember: FIRST DRAFTS ARE MEANT FOR MISTAKES. *smiles* I have a friend who’s always calling herself a perfectionist because she struggles with the same time, so I’ve given this speech before. 😉
Anyways, I’m done. Rant over. *hides* XD *cough* Now… will I listen to my advice as I go to write my own Draft One? *shrugs* Unlikely, but we’ll see. XD
