@bookcrazygirl and @kay, I am so sorry it took so long to respond. I keep forgetting to answer your questions.
Do you have any tips for describing the characters room and having random things in the room that describe the character’s personality? How exactly do you do that?
K.M. Weiland actually mentioned that in her book. If I recall correctly, she said something along these lines. Don’t describe every detail of the room, just things that help us learn more about the character. Do they have a poster on their wall that is important to them? Maybe their room is full of things for sewing. Different things like that should help.
So I was wondering though, what would be too much description of a character, or too much explanation of character? Cause I have discovered that I either don’t explain enough or describe too much.
I think the best way to gauge this is to ask your alpha or beta-readers to give you opinions. There isn’t really a hard and fast rule like, “Do only three sentences of description in any given area of your book.” It all depends on the writer’s style and how interesting they make the descriptions. Does that help?
