Oh *winces* I have encountered that with my character. I’m afraid all I did was embrace the idea of a slow return and little moments of bittersweet happiness. In fact, I think it’s fair to say someone doesn’t go from problems to happiness unless they’re lying to themselves and only pretending to be momentarily happy. Instead they first have a sad/happy moment, that concludes the main pain and give way for healing. (Picture the ending of the Pixar movie, Inside Out?)
