So I’ve been thinking a lot lately about prayer.

Many times I have told myself that I’m too busy to sit down and pray – I have school and work, places to be and things to do – but I realized today that one doesn’t have to necessarily have to sit alone in a quiet room to pray. We are commanded to pray without ceasing, so why don’t we pray throughout our entire day?
Pray while eating lunch, pray while driving to the store, pray while sketching at my desk, pray while taking a shower, pray while cleaning the house or washing the dishes. Christianity is about having a relationship with Jesus, and so talking to Him all day long is something I’ve decided to start.

Anyways, maybe you guys are already doing this, but I wanted to share my thoughts. 🙂

Such good thoughts! I struggle with this too…most of the time I am so busy doing other things that prayer gets pushed to the back of my mind and it stays there until I need to ask God for something. I feel like I treat prayer as a back-up tool for when things get bad in life, but it is supposed to be a continual, on going communion with the Father. I need to communicate with him on a regular basis, not just when I need Him to get me out of a bad situation.
You are right when you say that praying to God doesn’t have to be some formal, knee-down-and-fold-your-hands-in-a-closet type of prayer. Communicating with God can be as simple as just talking to him as you would anybody else…telling him about your day, asking for advice, thanking him for what he’s given you. And lots of times, it doesn’t even need to be verbal. 🙂

      • @eden-anderson I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one. And you made a good point that communicating with Him can be as simple as talking to others. That is another area I struggle at and am trying to improve at… to just talk to him about my day and not come to just ask for this and that.
Thanks for your reply. It was encouraging. 🙂

I think prayer is just like anything else in the Christian walk…you have to be intentional about it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts…this was so encouraging to me too! 😁 *hugs*

Thank you SO much for this, I read this last night, and it really reminded me that I need to pray more. Things can really push that out of my mind so easily, but I know that the most important thing of all is to focus on God first, everything else second. This was a big encouragement to me last night, thank you again. <3

This is great advice. Thanks for sharing. (:

    • @evelyn Life has been busy an it’s been tough to get around to reading things, but I finally read this and I want to say that it’s so neat you shared this with us. I do struggle, daily, with bringing everything to God. Honestly, I can say that I’ve seen a lot of growth over the past several years, but I’m so far from where I know I should be. Hearing from you how God is working in your life through prayer is a super encouragement and I’m so glad I took the time to read this. 🙂
Also, agreeing with @eden-anderson that we do have to be intentional about prayer! So intentional! That’s something I’ve been learning this past year…or rather, something God has been teaching me 🙂
