Because she hadn’t let go, Kallun’s balance was completely knocked off kilter. Almost as soon as she did let go his own grip slipped on the vine and he tumbled in just after her. Luckily for him, he could swim. As soon as his head came above the water he looked around the current for her. He panicked slightly.

The Mallea in him quickly adapted and connected to the water. He used much of his strength, and the last of his air to push open a bubble and separate the water. When he saw her he pulled her into the bubble with him, hoping that she could get some air before the bubble popped and he could get her to the surface.
