@w-o-holmes I usually have a burst of inspiration where something I hear/read/see becomes a line of poetry or general theme for a poem. My best ideas come right before I drift off to sleep and right before I wake up.

I let my mind wander as much as possible within the poem, then edit out whatever I don’t like. My philosophy is if it never got on the page, you never know if it would have worked.

After getting whatever my brain has come up with onto the page, I leave the poem for a day, then come back and edit. I repeat the process until I am satisfied. (Usually 5-10 drafts??)
