@ariella-newheart – I just re-read a few of the first chapters, and in addition to agreeing with what Steward already mentioned, I personally thought the characters from the start were a bit…confusing.  I think it would be clearer if you explained how they all know/met each other early on and provided a little bit more backstory (flashbacks, as you suggested, is a fantastic idea, and I think you could do a great job with it. 😉
