I actually had an idea for combining ideas 2 and 4 together. Here’s what I was thinking…
What if we had an orphaned gladiator who’s been told he must win a tournament in order to prove himself worthy of the privilege of adoption. He trains very hard and soon becomes the best warrior among the other warriors. However, on the night of the tournament, he is kidnapped. Obviously he puts up a great struggle and tries to return to the arena in time for battle, but since his captors are stronger than he is, there is little he can do against them. Finally, the captors lead him to a castle, where the gladiator learns that he was actually kidnapped as a baby to be used for bloodsport. His parents have been searching for him and sent the “kidnappers” to rescue him. The gladiator is then reunited with his parents and comes to understand that true love does not depend on the “worthiness” of the object.
I don’t know if this idea will work, so if not I’ll put my vote down for @ashira‘s suggestion (and make it an explanation for the origins of pizza to add to the surprise ending) or 6.
