Oh, aye- this guy wasn’t intended as the modern Twilight-esque vampire, nor to try and generate vampire fiction. The idea was that he’d be a roaming villain that would add flavor to the world at large; the vampire powers were just something that was incidental and was packaged into the idea as a whole, as if Dracula had taken up a career as a western bad guy.
Alrighty, so natural magic in the setting; how would it interact with the sci-fi aspects? Maybe the magic led to the technological advancement of the background (it would make logistics easier)? Maybe the natural magic was a rare phenomenon that was dismissed because it couldn’t be tested in laboratory conditions that most scientists prefer? Maybe the disaster that led to the current setting was magic-related/was the cause for the increased occurrence of magic?
