It sounds like we have several similarities. My dad is also a math major and he teaches Mathematics at Rose Hulman University. I live on fifteen acres of land, but my neighbors let me roam through their woods and so I have probably explored about 85 or 90 acres around my house.
My favorite song artists include: Two Steps from Hell, Clamavi De Profundis, Weird Al, and the Newsboys. My favorite authors include: J.R.R. Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, G.A. Henty, Travis Thrasher, and Bryan Davis. My favorite movies include: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and The Princess Bride. My favorite quotes (Hmm, that’s a hard one.): “To the German Commander, Nuts. The American Commander.” “I do not think that word things what you think it means.” and, “The Eagles are coming.”
I have a dog, four younger sisters, and enjoy fencing, bo staff, and free diving. I have also done quite a bit of camping, hiking, fishing, tracking, and hunting. I can speak a little bit of: Latin, Spanish, and French. I play basketball, baseball, ultimate frisbee, flag-football, soccer, and I do some track and field.
The funniest scene that I can think of off of the top of my head in one of my WIP’s is where this group of tough guys are confronting the hero and the heroine and they start talking about how girls are weak and fragile, and how the heroine should leave so that she doesn’t have to see them beat up the hero. The hero tells them, “It would probably be in your best interest to stop bad mouthing girls.” (Not the final phrasing, just what I have down so far.) And they are like, “Yeah, why?” Then the hero says, “Because if you don’t the girl beside me is going to lose her temper and hurt you.” The tough guys all laugh at this idea and then go to attack the hero and the heroine, and the heroine ends up putting them all on the ground.
There are probably funnier scenes, but I just can’t remember them right now.
