Lance couldn’t move his body. His skull pressed against the hard plastic of the broken headrest. His shoulders pressed into the suddenly soft cushion behind him. Static crackled over speakers, but the captain didn’t speak. Lance managed to turn his head enough to look out the window. The water below was very much at the wrong angle. Pressure built up in his stomach, and Lance lost his lunch all over the (thankfully empty) seat beside him. He was going to die. They were all going to die. He pushed and shoved against the invisible force holding him into his chair. For his efforts, he started to lose his eyesight. He tried to scream, but the harder he pushed on his lungs, the more he felt like just an idea that was not necessarily attached to his body. He was about to hurl again, but he blacked out first.
