Hey @graceabounds2129, thanks for poking in to ask:

    1) Generally speaking, it takes a little bit of imagination and suspension of disbelief to get a character lounge together.  If everyone created a lounge that suited their character’s time and place, then we’d have a lounge for each Lumenite and that’s not what we’re going for.  So, generally, we just kind of have characters ignore the fact that they “don’t belong” and just let the characters be the characters for the exercise.  And also we’ll try to move around the different time periods as we move on to another lounge and that will help get everybody completely involved.

    2) Generally, it is helpful to write in 3rd person, but one of the main advantages of character lounges is that it gets you used to writing as that character.  So, if your novel is going to be in 1st, I’d write in 1st in the lounge too.  Since people only have one character in the lounge, it shouldn’t get too crazy.  (If you want to be extra helpful, you could post your character’s name at the start or end of every post so people remember how to address them.)

    3) You can definitely tag whoever’s character you’re interacting with… but you don’t have to.  Generally people who want to be active in the lounge will subscribe to the topic so they’ll be notified of all the new posts anyway.  (I think there’s an unspoken rule that if someone hasn’t replied in 24ish non-weekend hours you can tag them with a poke/reminder.)

    4) Normally no.  Sometimes a lounge will allow it, but only if it’s stated up front.  In general, having more than one character leads to chaos much more quickly.

    5) Yeah definitely.  If you want to sketch something out and post it as an idea that would be fabulous.  (Just make sure your drawing doesn’t contradict anything that’s already been posted.)

    6) Oh character descriptions… you are such a pain.  I’m not going to start a new topic because that could just get crazy.  What I will do (and should have done before) is copy all descriptions into my first post so they will all be right there on the initial lounge page.

Thanks for all the questions!  It’s great to have everyone actively participating.  This is fun!
