“No.” Kallun said softly, fingering Pia’s cheek. “Betrothed.”

Pia pulled away rom I’m slightly and turn to Julian. “It’s not you. I just… I’m too much like my father than I’d like to admit. But sometimes words will…” She shrugged, “I guess my father’s words always hurt worse than any punishment he gave me… But it’s not you, Julian. Even Kallun will accidentally say something that gets me fired up…”

Kallun nodded. “I’ve just known her long enough to know mostly what I should say and what I shouldn’t.” He reached and grabbed her arm and pulled her into a big embrace. He couldn’t see, but he could feel, and that’s what mattered right now. Even though the hug was forced, the tension in her body seemed to relax some.
