Rowan glanced between the man and the warrior woman wielding a battle axe, then did the only thing she could.

Retreat.

Swiftly a wall of young rowans rose from the wooden floor in front of her as she dashed away towards a door behind the yew throne.  It opened with a well-placed kick to a dark room.  She didn’t have time to investigate, so she slipped in and closed the door again behind her, growing a small vine latch around the knob to hold it closed.  Then she looked around the room as her eyes adjusted to the dark.
