“Do…In your world do people usually have…powers or are accepted with their powers?”

Brendin set the book down on the table and unbuttoned the cuff of his jacket sleeve.  “Yes,” he said, raising the sleeve to show a black marking on the inside of his forearm.  Several burn scars were also visible around it.  “Synes are pretty common.”

The syne flashed red as Brendin made a small gesture and an orb of fire flew into his hand from one of the torches.  He quickly extinguished it however and lowered his arm, rebuttoning his sleeve.

“Never mind.”

Alessio took the book back, commenting that it wouldn’t help them escape.  “We should agree on a leader before deciding on the next best course of action.” he muttered.

Brendin nodded.  “I agree,” he said.  “And I think we can agree that Vulferym will not be the man in question.”
