Leeli sighed and smiled.

“It’s all right. And Hermione’s right. I’m not the Queen of… What did you call it? England? My brother Kalmar–” Here she gestured to her brother. “Is the High King of Anniera. I’m just the Song Maiden. And my brother Janner is the Throne Warden.”

The wizards and witch looked at them curiously.

“Buttt…” Ron stammered. “Isn’t he–” He pointed to Janner. “Older?”

The siblings looked at each other, and their lips twitched.

Janner turned back towards the other group and started to explain.

“Yes, I’m older, but in Anniera the second-born is the queen or king. The oldest protects the king or queen, and whatever siblings come after. The third-born is the Song Maiden or Song Master, and all that are born after are Lore Wains.” Janner gave them a confused look. “I guess you’re not from Aerwiar?”

The other group looked at each other.

“No,” said Hermione. “We’ve never heard of Aerwiar. Nor Anniera for that matter.”

The two groups looked in silence at each other for a minute, then Harry spoke.

“But, why isn’t your father king if you’re just kids?”

At this all three Wingfeather children stiffened and looked at each other sadly.

“He’s… dead.” said Kalmar.

All the children looked to the ground. The wizards looked at each other, unsure what to say.
