    My Dearest Emily,

I am so sorry, and please forgive me! I’m afraid I’ve done the same! 🙁 So please don’t worry, because I completely understand, dear! I wanted to write you a nice, long reply “Montegomery style”…but unfortunately idealists don’t always get things done. LOL (Please don’t think I find you obnoxious in the least! I love you very, very dearly too! I wish we could meet up for tea at some vintagey cafe and curl near a cushioned window-seat overlooking some snow-cloaked evergreens and let the warm, smoky fragrance emanating from a fire crackling in the grate thaw the pink tips of our noses! All while our fingertips brush across the pages of our favorite books we’ve brought. That would be delightful, wouldn’t it?)

I’ve watched a few of those on your list, (my sister and I watched Lord of the Rings this year and we ABSOLUTELY fell in love with it! It is such a wonderful mini-series!) and the others are definitely on my list!

Well, just now I’m brainstorming a sci-fi-fantasy story, which I am very excited about. (I know it sounds strange to go from historical fiction to sci-fi, 😀 LOL but it’s set in the future, so you could think of it as taking all that’s been foreshadowed in history – the backstory, let’s say – and create a story of the future. Weave together the last fragments of the tapestry so you can see the beauty of the whole. In addition, I wanted to try creating science-fiction that, like C. S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy, explores rather than dissipates the spiritual world. I’m sure you know what I mean. If the heavens proclaim the glory of God, why can’t science fiction?) I’m going to start with a short story, but hopefully I’ll be able to turn it into a novella trilogy!

Also, I really want to start writing a contemporary short story collection (maybe I’ll add a poem or two –  I would so love that!) about kids with disabilities or disadvantages doing surprising/incredible things despite or through their disabilities, which I’m very eager to write as well! I love the theme of God using the “weak and worthless of this world” to accomplish His purposes. I would love it if you could help me brainstorm for either of these ideas, if you’d like to!

Lastly, I’m also working on a newsletter and blog, which has taken quite a bit of my time. Other than that, we had a lovely family reunion for Christmas with family hadn’t been together for over 20 years because they live in different countries, so that was beautiful. And of course, there’s school, which always keeps one industrious! XD LOL

How about you? What projects are you working on just now? Are there any books in particular that have “caught your fancy”? How is your area doing with the Corona Virus? By the way, please don’t feel obligated to reply to this with an equally long epistle! I love short and sweet replies too! 😉

    I’ve missed you so, Emily-of-New-Moon!

    Yours very truly,

    Anne or Cordelia Shirley
