@karthmin oh man you put that so beautifully.

Tolkien and Lewis are both my main role models for writing. I love the way they portray women in their books  because they really just treated their writing in general with such respect.

Society has slowly lost respectfulness for basically anything and anyone, and twisted the roles of the male and female.

Something I love about reading the stories in the Bible is that all our good examples (Ruth, Esther, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Sarah, Rachel, Anna, to name just a few off the top of my head) were women of courage and faith who served diligently to nurture and serve those they were around. They all set very feminine examples for us to follow.

Esther used her unique and feminine talents and her role as a wife to soften the heart of her husband the king so that he would listen. (Interestingly; we also see in that story that the king banished his former wife because of her refusal to serve him.)

I think that the roles men and women were given way back in the Garden are still really important for us to remember and learn from; in writing and in life. Male roles make male characters feel more masculine. Female roles make female characters more feminine. I’m trying to use that in my writing better.
