Hey! I’m here for once.
Looking at my current story world, the easiest answer is what would make the worse pet. Felots. Wildcats with beautiful fur (my favourite variety is the purplish grey), nasty tempers and sharp claws. Some upper class people keep them, but they’re not safe. But because they’re pretty, they’ve been protected by law and you can get in big trouble for killing one unnecessarily.
A quok might make a good pet. They’re small, furry creatures. A bit like a huge rat, but nicer. (Not ROUS scale of huge.) And talshepi are all around useful to keep. Hair, a bit of milk, and they’re great pack animals.
For good vacation spots, it’s best to try a city or town. Less dangerous animals there. Also less outlaws. Ekapsa has an amazing fortress built into the side of a mountain. It’s covered with beautiful carvings and has a maze of tunnels in the mountain behind it. It is debated whether is was originally a palace or a temple.
Cool things! I like the feasts Iv’e made for my world. A planting preparation prayer day in the spring. At least that’s what they have in Verlis. In Amray they only have the day of drinking new milk which isn’t a big deal. In the autumn, there is a harvest/thanksgiving/sharing festival and it also is different between the nations. It’s much more solemn in Verlis and involves a lot more gift giving. But it is religious in both nations.
My other cool thing is the Dlinaat people who live over the mountains. They’re plains dwellers, but centuries ago their ancestors were islanders and to have a closer affinity to water they’d need to be some kind of merpeople. It’s still a huge part of their culture. Water means power. Their cities are planned around aquifers (Which makes sense for plains anyway) and their leaders are waterlords. Water is nearly divine, unless you belong to the weird dissenter group who worship a god who lives in the sky and once walked on the earth.)
