What do I like about languages…that’s a good question. Ummm, I like designing them and creating all those things that go along with them, and – oh, I like using the language of linguistics. You know, the terms and such. It seems as I keep going making languages, they get better as well. You should have seen my first one. It was pretty good but according to the standards for them now, it’s pretty terrible. I’ll give you an example: Languages aren’t just random symbols that look great. That’s what I had. Those letters ended up being stashed away in a notebook somewhere in the confines of my house. It was more of a code (I really don’t like using that word when it comes to languages). Plus, I’ve got to make them because in making multiple worlds, four that is, I’ve got to make the languages. And it’s something I love doing.

What do I think of the films. Well, I wished they put Tom Bombadil in them, but he doesn’t really further the story at all. He does help them escape from the Barrow Wights, but. And wasn’t it interesting that the ring had no effect upon him? There’s this book called Tolkien: Author of the Century by Tom Shippey. It’s pretty good and I’d recommend it. He goes through and dissects the Lord of the Rings and I think the Hobbit.

What’s it like in Taiwan?
