Interesting. Yes, it is a factor that all poets have their own process when writing their poetry. I would describe the writing of my poetry to be something like this: The string is my word which I thread through the liquids of my emotion. Some of my poetry doesn’t exactly have a moral to it, and I don’t always portray morals within them. They are more the wanderings of my mind either on particular subjects or none in particular at all. The latter would then have to be revised to fit a recognized idea or goal. Though this is the way I usually traverse the lands of poetry, through my next poems, I am going to attempt to add more meaning while still keeping that slow, rhythmic, steady flow.
I see the way you’re coming at it and in some ways it parallels my own procedure. The thoughts are spontaneous and thick with rich substance. (That is, most of the time with mine.) Sometimes, though, all I end up doing is writing it down somewhere on one of my note papers and it gets folded up and thrown in some vacant spot where I may happen upon it later.
One other thought; are you ever in those peculiar circumstances when you have a great thought or idea of something or finally figure out some piece that you’ve been thinking and pondering about for some time, but you have no implement to write it down with and no article to be written upon? And then you have to keep muttering it over and over again until you finally get the chance to write it down? -This happens with me a lot when I’m right in the middle of a shower. Very annoying, I might add.- Sometimes I start to think of things having to do with writing when in one of these places and I’ll tell myself to knock-it-off and stop thinking.
