I’m working on a fantasy mystery. I’m going to have a detective who uses magic to solve crimes, but I am unsure of what kind of magic to give him.I’d like it to be something that he could use to solve the crime (not fight the baddies), so it would likely be something cerebral, but I don’t want its use to be to obvious, like being able to tell when someone is lying.
@rebecca-w Ooh, this sounds very interesting! What time period do you plan to set the story in? Will it be old? Futuristic?
where the holder of it looks at an object and can see flashes of it’s history/memory. Thus, your detective could look at a weapon and see it’s story.That’s the first idea that pops to mind at least.
@evelyn Yesss, that’s the first ability that popped into my mind too! It’s called psychometry, and I actually have a character in the making that has this ability too!
