I recently stumbled across a great discussion on how to find yourself/your voice in your writing. As I read the comments, one by one people were advising the writer to really think about who she was writing for and remember to write stuff for herself, that she enjoys. Obviously, no matter who you are writing to (yourself or others) we ultimately write for God. Your faith should be the foundation at which you write and it is okay to write something for you to personally enjoy. I think it is easy for us to get caught up in writing for an audience when sometimes we need to be our own audience. There is nothing wrong in writing for others, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes to find your writing voice again it is helpful to write something for yourself, to remember why you enjoy writing.

So what are your thoughts? How do you find your writing voice again?
