Will doesn’t want anyone to see him in pain. After his father was thought to be killed in action and his mother and unborn sister died, he was left to heal himself as an eight year old. He wants to be strong enough to do what needs to be done without anyone else’s help. When someone brings up his pain, he changes the subject immediately. He is determined to be strong for/in front of Elaine.
