@everyone:
Aidens hazel eyes bored into his opponent; his gase, cold, calculating, penetrating. Sweat soaked blond hair plastered itself to his forehead and threatened to obscure his vision. Aiden resisted the urge to brush it away and didn’t take his focus off the man before him. Chests heaving and muscles tensed the two warriors each held a silver blade that simmered in the heat of the day; nether mod. The battle had been hard, too hard, and Aiden could feel his stoma wearing thin. The man, at least twenty years of age, faked a lunge and swing high and right. Aiden countered and felt the vibrations of the collision shiver through his arms. He couldn’t keep this up, he had to make a move. Asian disengaged and took a step back. He knew the wall was behind him but he couldn’t risk a glance over his shoulder to see just how close. He could feel his defeat closing in with every cubit of ground lost. The man made a shallow lunge and Aiden parried, only to find his counter attack deflected with surprising speed and precision. His opponents steel arched toward him and Aiden knew he couldn’t position his sword in time. He yanked himself back and the blade claved the air where his body had been moments before. He grit his teeth Enough of this! His will screamed. Aiden switched his sword to his left and with practoused accuracy unleashed a threefold attack. His opponent held his ground; his body twisting and turning at unnatural angles to meet each of Aidens strikes and then countering with his own offensive. Aiden lost another cubit of ground and stepped into the shadow the arenas edge. He returned his blade into his dominant hand That should have worked! His opponents heavy swings rained down and Aiden felt each blow intensify the burning fatigue in his arms. Aiden took one step forward then two steps back; his movements were being to grow frantic. Aiden tried to edge himself right but the brawny man kept him boxed in. He had to take a risk. Aidens mind flashed back and he knew what to do. He parried his opponants thrust and made to lunge but faltered and started over his opponent’s shoulder as if he saw something horrifying. Aiden didn’t wait for the reaction he hoped would follow and sprung forward; his gaze snapping back to the man only to find his opponents brown eyes stared directly into his. He hadn’t looked away. His body already in motion Aiden was powerless to undo his mistake as time slowed to allow his an agonising eternity to regret his decision. The man’s arm slammed in Aidans chest and forced his breath from his lungs. Time skipped a beat and Aiden found himself pressed against the wall, the feeling of cold steel up against bare skin. “Yield!” his opponent commanded. Aiden looked to the sword prepared to be thrust into his stomach and closed his eyes. “I yield.” he moaned. His opponent took a step back and Aiden fell off the wall struggled to force air into his lungs. Finally they responded and hot summer atmosfear filled his being. Aiden gasped and steadied himself. His opponent raise his sword and the sounds of the crowd came crashing back into his consciousness like a title wave. Aiden breathed heavy and hung his head; it was over. The crowd continued to erupt with applause as his opponent turned to him Aiden raise his head and tried not to look as defeated as he felt. “You did well.” he managed as he clasped his opponents for arm. The man brushed a seat lock of hair out of his eyes “As you.” he replied.

Aiden dyed his hair on his corse shirt before putting it on. He basked in his newfound cleanliness, sat back against a tree, and closed his eyes. He let the symphony of running water and silence shut his soul. His body ached almost as much as his pride. Well you almost made it… he thought with a dry chuckle That’s gotta count for something right? He let out a deep sigh who are you kidding, no one ever cared about almost… when did almost every count for anything. He picked up a stick and chucked it into the crystal water not three cubits away. He let the silence reign a few more moments before pulling himself to his feet. Alright, break times over, back to work. He promoted himself. He grabbed a rock out of the lake and chuck sit at a bolder nearby before picking up his sword and sheath. Something cracked, like the trunk of a full grown tree had been split in two, and Aiden jumped. He jerked to face the sound and froze and at what he saw. A thousand strands of light, in hundreds of hues of red orange and yellow, intertwined and merged to form an flickering mass of energy where the rock had once been. Aiden gripped his blade and let his sheath fall to the ground What… he peard at the mass, every shifting, every changing. A few moments passed and Aiden looked around. Besides the fire like crackle nothing stirred. He took a step closer and stared at the complex and invaluable strands of multi-hued light. What is it? He drew closer and gingerly touched his sword to the light. Nothing happens. Hesitantly he lowered his blade and slowly reached forth his hand. He touched it. Suddenly thousand and thousands of hairlike coard of energy launched forth and twisted around his arm. Aiden cried out and slashed at the light with his blade but the steel had no effect. The cords pulled him in and more beagan to attach themselves to him. He jerked and scrambled but the light continued to coil around him like snakes. “HELP!” he screamed just as the mass consumed him and folded in on itself. The rock was in its place once more and Aiden’s cry echoed into silence.
Man, that was actually a significant amount of work XD! Well, that’s my characters back story, and I’m excited to read your guy ones!!! Anyway, one request though, could we keep the portal consistent. Here’s how I was thinking it works. Any mass from another ‘dimension’ or time period can act as a portal (so, each of us could have an item from our dimension that, when away from home, could bring us back to where we came from.) Because this item is displaced from its home ‘dimension’ it has some weird scientific reason for being able to draw either only organic matter, or any kind of matter (I just see how this could present some problems) back to where it came from (in the case of my story this rock is from, whatever genre and time period our home base will be set in). Also, to ‘turn on’ the portal it must be ignited with fire and water (so my wet stone sparked or something when it hit the rock, thus igniting the portal) that way it’s not too easy to ignite but also not too hard (plus it’s just a fun concept, igniting something with water XD) Feel free to like change the colors or even how the portal manifests itself if you want but if we could keep those things consistent, that would be great : D Super excited to see where this thing goes!!!
