Being that we are called “Meerkats”, I’ve always kind of pictured us being like the animal. It could be our disguise, and normally we’re human but morph into meerkat-like disguises during official guild duties (friendly guild gatherings as well as missions). Or maybe we are just anthropomorphic meerkats. I don’t know. So, I also think we might take inspiration from the real meerkats, for all areas of our guild info.
For example, instead of an obvious courtyard and buildings off of it – which could be too easily discovered and attacked by our enemies – what if we met above ground, in the open. Nearby would be underground burrows – that look like any animal could live there (and indeed, there might be Friends of Meraki (or maybe older agents who have retired from active missions and now serve the next generation?) who live there and are sort of loyal caretakers and security officials). Each burrow would have a secret way of getting to the genre-specific, undercover burrow (the real one). Mystery’s could have a hidden passage behind a bookcase, for example, and maybe some coded signal (a set pattern of tapping the book spines, or something) to unlock it. Dystopian/ Sci-Fi’s could contain an actual portal (that beams them up, after first matching them in some scientific way to the approved roster) to an invisible spaceship hovering over the courtyard, or something.
