Your story sounds very intriguing. I want to read the whole thing when you’re done, if you don’t mind.

Adelaide is a sympathetic character. I would suggest mentioning her reasons for forming a rebellion closer to the beginning, though. I didn’t understand why she was doing anything until that was explained at the end of chapter one. And if a reader doesn’t understand, they may not sympathize as much. I think that may be where your previous readers were coming from.
