The whole time I knew what was coming and yet when I got there it was different than I expected

So yes, that’s a great example of how much we can do with this word limit. I love where we’re going with this; we just need to settle on some names, develop the two main characters, and pick a setting–sounds like a fairy-tale-like town and an old (ish) small American town are the two main suggestions. On the one hand I feel like so many guilds will be doing fantasy that our story will stand out more if it’s something else, but on the other hand I feel like it’s more likely that a villain would decide to burn down a city in a fantasy type setting.
