I’m with you guys–I hadn’t thought too specifically about weather as a world building tool either… although I’m suddenly realizing how important weather is in my stories. In my WIP, storms are all caused by the evil supernatural forces, so characters who get caught in a storm could get sick or turned off course, or feel like something is messing with their minds… because it is. In the story I’m thinking about/planning, the world is flat and doesn’t revolve around the sun, so there are no seasons. But there are weather patterns and cycles that can be studied and predicted to some degree, and in general the weather is pretty mild where most of the Humans live. But it occurs to me that when the moon rises for the first time in a couple thousand years (long story), that should probably affect the weather patterns and cause havoc to the calm climate of the plains. Now I have to research the effect of the moon on weather! XD
