She stepped out of thin air with the grace of a feline, with an air of victory, and a smile gracing her lips. Hiding in the shadows for so long, she entered the scene with the flair of dramatic display as that of one of Shakespeare’s actors. No, for she was in charge of this scene and it would play out as she wished. She was the strategist. These people, simply wooden pawns on her board. To be moved, and sacrificed at will.‘

                                                                                          She was…
    The Immortal.

“Well done,” The Immortal stood upon the edge of the roof. “A loving couple is drawn together, one even joining the other and forsaking their world. A touching scene. I wouldn’t dare disturb it,” she glanced upward as if looking at someone.

Ben, seeds still in hand, shifted in front of Reese. He still didn’t look good from the hospital, science, experimentation weird shifty lab deal. He’d run out of his last traps, having only vines and daisies left. Somehow he didn’t think the latter would work. The mysterious woman finally stepped lightly across the edge of the roof into the light.

“Oh! Creepy tall hat weird lady!” he called, waving his free hand. “So are you like the final boss or something? All the little bosses have been defeated and to beat the game we’ve got to defeat you?”

“Not quite,” the Immortal smiled softly at the boy. “I think you’ll do nicely. What will you do boy to see your friends go home? You’ve done so much for them so far. It will be interesting. You see I’ve been staying out of this for the time being, but my interest has been peeked by your…shall we say…pure heart. Did you know that in all the universes, you are the only one who survived that plane crash? That must hurt something inside. To be all alone in every version of the world. Is that why you strive to make friends with everyone? Are you trying to fill a gap that not even another universe could reverse?”

Ben stared at her, seeds slipping through his fingers as his grip loosened. So she was really mean after all. Why did she act like she had things all figured out? He swiped at his eyes with his free hand.

“I make friends because I know what it’s like to be alone, Miss mean lady villain.” Ben clenched his hands into fists. “And I don’t want anyone to experience that! I don’t do it for me, I do it for them.”

“Ah, and this is why, despite what you say, you’ll never make a villain,” The Immortal shook her head, raising a hand.

Invisible, unbreakable shields rose, creating a barrier between Ben and the others. Ben reached out, jumping as his hand touched a solid surface of air.

“Well let us test this,” the Immortal raised another hand. “You are their friend, willing to help in time of need, but let us see if there is anything they can do. Are they willing to risk themselves to help you? Are they your friends?”

Fire burst into the air, lighting up the night sky.

“Alright so now a volcano,” Levi growled, thoroughly done with this whole mess. “So what are we supposed to do here?”

She dragged her fingers through her dark hair, shaking loose glitter. This place looked deserted, barren even. They couldn’t even find their way out of a building, much less a fire infested land. Also, she was with this bunch of jump in the first lake they saw idiots. They better not come across any Lava.
