@ncstokes Hi there! I drew what I think about when drawing eyes, I hope it’s helpfull!

Try to remember that an eye is actually a ball with some neat shutters in front of it. Sometimes I even draw a simple round shape and build a complex eye on top of it. This can be a handy trick if you’re just starting out. When drawing the face in profile the eye looks like a triangle. You don’t have to know how to draw realistic eyes. But try to think of it in shapes.

Eyes can look different in every style. This is usually just exaggerating things from reality. In most manga drawings the ball of the eye is stretched out like an oval. More lines around the eyes make someone look older. If the eyes are round and big someone will look younger. You could indicate eyelashes like a thick dark line (this is done in most Disney princesses), but you could also draw individual eyelashes if you want to. White dots in the eyes will make them look shiny and indicate light. This is common in manga ladies. If you want to make something really cartoony you could try making the the iris and pupil really small, making the white of the eye dominant. If you want to make something cute, do the opposite. If you want to draw more realistic I recommend drawing from reference. Look at pictures of people and draw their eyes, but try to keep that ball shape in mind.

Just experiment and have fun trying things out!
