Yay, my first guild theme discussion!

Oh I loooove language! That’s one of the things I enjoy most about the idea that I’ve been developing in my head and done a tiny bit of preliminary work on.

In the series I’m working on right now, all of the humans speak the same language (they all lived in very close proximity to each other until not that long ago, so they haven’t had too much time to differentiate). But the evil supernatural beings have their own language, which gives them a very sharp, shrill accent when they speak the humans’ language.

The story in my head is all about the three races that inhabit the same world: the Jewel People, the Earth people, and the Fire people. Each race has only one language, but different tribes/clans/cities have very distinct dialects. I haven’t done much work on them yet, but I’m super excited to make the languages reflect the major points of each culture (intellect, service, and strength, respectively) using both the sound of the words and things like sentence structure. I probably won’t invent three complete languages, but hopefully I’ll at least have a pretty firm grasp on their basics.
