    @devastate-lasting *laughs* Well hey, theme and belief-system should be pretty closely related, so I really can’t fault you for the confusion at the beginning of your comment! 😛

    It’s not bad to make your character’s morally gray. It’s on the line between good and evil that some of the most thought-provoking stories are told. And like Sarah mentioned, the moral belief isn’t so much about what the character believes about objective right and wrong, but more about the personal set of moral guidelines that they live by. It could be: it’s okay for me to kill someone who threatens me. Or it could be: killing is always wrong no matter what. What we’re getting at is just thinking about the basic set of beliefs that they operate under – whether those beliefs are (in real life) good or evil. Whether a villain or a hero, or a little bit of both, our characters need to be fleshed out.

    I’m intrigued by the chart that you introduced. It looks like a fascinating way to develop and classify characters! Also quite helpful to the discussion, too, because it pretty clearly relates to belief-systems in a very integral way. Thank you for sharing!
