I think that the important thing is that we can raise a problem in the dream to have it solved in real life. So… we’re going to need a character, something they’ve been struggling with, and somehow the dream leads towards solving the problem.

The thing about most dream sequences is that they are involved in the more complex scheme of a whole novel, while we only have a short story to have the dream, make the point, while not being too in-your-face about it.
