@hope-ann Um, actually by your same logic The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints isn’t a cult except in the broadest sense (that also would include all religions including Christianity).
I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I’m not sure what beliefs of ours you see as “seeming to reach the lines of science fiction” but I can gladly answer some questions about them. We do believe Christ is our God and Savior, that Salvation only comes through him, and we do believe in what the Bible says. I especially love the symbolic and poetic way that Isaiah writes to teach of Christ.
Our church leaders and the Book of Mormon also teach of Christ.
2nd Nephi 25:
23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.…
26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.
“May I suggest that the best things in this life are centered on Jesus Christ and understanding the eternal truths of who He is and who we are in our relationship with Him.” – Elder Jack N Gerard of the Seventy.
I know you haven’t looked into my church very much, and that you probably don’t really want to. That’s okay, I don’t expect you to, it’s just kind of frustrating that there are so many lies about us.
