@selah-chelyah 😀 I figured something like that was the case.  I think I’d recognize you as Ariel’s sister anywhere.  You sound a lot like her. 😉 May I ask how near in age you are?

There were two things I was meaning when I mentioned FDR:

One: What was FDR if not a socialist?  And what is socialism if not communism dressed up in pretty, attractive clothes? 😉  So while outwardly communist presidents may have been worse if they had been elected, I still think FDR was one of the worst American presidents ever.  (That is not to say he did nothing good, as he did.  I am generally speaking of the whole of his presidency.)

Two: I really didn’t understand how your mention of FDR had anything at all to do with your argument, as you were arguing that the government was bad as it was, and saying it could have been worse really doesn’t have any bearing on the case at hand.  Just a bit of confusion, and maybe a tip for when you’re debating in the future – make sure your arguments are relevant. 😉  (I hope you don’t mind my saying this.)
