I love the Lord of the Rings, too! It’s great that your character is based (if only partially) off Aragorn.

The picture prompt contest is a group writing project involving all of us in the guild. (Normally it’s a word prompt, like “write a piece with the most creative prose” was the one before.) We’ll throw around ideas and then someone volunteers to write the first draft. Then we all jump in on a Google Doc and polish it up by the deadline, when it is submitted to whoever is judging. Our piece will be compared with the pieces from all the other guilds, and a winner will be chosen.

I don’t believe the Saxon Scribes have won a writing prompt contest yet, but we’re on our way there.

We also will sometimes have a word war when the guilds compete to write the most words in a week, collectively. You’ll just write as much (in a fiction/poetry draft — editing/revising doesn’t count) as you can in one week, then submit your word count, which will be added to the Saxon Scribe’s total, which will also be compared against all the other guilds.
