I’m confused about what we’re supposed to be writing. Is it just one scene of a story/ idea, or an entire short story (which may have multiple scenes)? Or is it both, a short story that takes place in just one scene?
For ideas, I like the dieter with food issues and the trio of girls in a haunted house ideas but have a few additional ideas for them-
What if the dieter and food idea was from the viewpoint of some decadent chocolate cake (or other high calorie but equally delectable food) that was heartbroken because it was “bad”. The dream of any food is to become the best food it can so that it will be lovingly eaten, and with so many people choosing to avoid sugar and carbs in favor of veggies and water – it is tough being a chocolate cake these days. Especially one that took time and effort to develop its roots as the lowly offspring of a Dirt Cake and a Boxed Cake Mix (though she was at least a Brand Name Boxed Cake Mix, and not a shady Generic), into a sophisticated, rich German Chocolate Sponge with Ganache. But what good was he, if nobody would eat him? Nobody would even look at him, as though a mere appreciative glance would instantly double their girth somehow. He just wanted to be loved for who he was – was that really too much to ask? To make matters worse, he was inching closer to the end of his shelf life. If he didn’t attract the love of someone soon, he’d be publicly humiliated – condemned to the feeding trough at the farm that had supplied the eggs and full- cream milk which had contributed to his rise in Dessert Society. Not only was he letting himself and his family down, but all those other Ingredients had put their faith (and pretty much everything else) in him.
And for the Haunted House idea – what if the house was a major character? It might not like being thought of as a creepy old house, and takes offense to what the girls say about it. Or maybe it delights in sending shivers down spines, and the girls are actually there in an attempt to prove that the house isn’t haunted and that everything has a logical explanation. Or maybe they are there trying to uncover the truth to some town legend, and the house either helps or hinders their progress (or maybe it just seems the house is actively doing things, but really the house belongs to an eccentric person who enjoys tinkering and inventions and has rigged the house with all manner of tricks and traps and whatnot just; and whenever some nosy kids trespass on the property, he puts on a show from his secret control room).
