@libby No problem! Ask away. 🙂

The forum exists so we can connect and help each other out with our writing questions.  On the fourm, you can either start a thread or reply to an existing one.

Threads are individual topics users create (like the one I’ve created here) for others to reply to. People usually start threads because they have a question, need a critique, want to talk about something, or just want to find other people interested in what they’re interested in. You can pretty much start a thread for anything (as long as it fits under a category. And it should probably be remotely related to writing 😛 ).

To start a topic, you can find a text box thingy at the bottom of your screen inside the category you’d like to place your thread under.

Say I had a question about starting a blog. I’d probably click on the “General Writing Discussions” category, scroll to the bottom and type my question in the box. After I title it, I submit it. The topic will then show up at the top of the list of threads (the most recently active thread automatically goes to the top of the page). I can also tag a few people that I want to see my new topic, either before or after the question, or in a comment I add (that’s optional. The thread is public, so anyone can see it even if you didn’t tag them. However, tagged people get notifications that your thread exists). Writers can reply to any thread they’d like, even if they were not tagged.

Oh, and you can also edit your comment or post after you publish by clicking the tiny edit button on the upper right of your comment/post.

Does that help? Anything I’m leaving out?
