Greetings! I’m just a novice writer who’s finally decided to get my creative creations out to the world.
Creations like the one below, which I penned this early morning. Enjoy!
It was in a serene village, named Purefalls. Raoul lived in this village, with his wife Elina and their children, for a decade and change. Fully content with his life, and wanting for nothing else but happiness and bliss, Raoul lived a truly peaceful life.
But a day arrived when that all changed… and not for the better.
Raoul, while out and about in Purefalls with his family, all of a sudden began to convulse. His body seized up as pain seared all over him… then, all of a sudden he transformed into a gargantuan dragon! Amidst this transformation, he could not control himself, as he unleashed in all directions a breath of draconic energy that laid waste to a good number of Purefalls’s buildings, and injured several more. Raoul turned back to a human, and when consciousness was regained he looked around him. With a sinking feeling in his stomach, he wondered why his fellow villagers looked at him with fear and repulsion on their faces.
An emergency meeting was quickly arranged with the mayor, and before him and other prominent figures of authority in the village, Raoul felt like he was on trial. In response to their superfluous inquisitions, Raoul could not explain to them how it is that he turned into a dragon. But he pleaded with the mayor and his colleagues for understanding; he was not a person who would ever imagine harming anybody he was living in harmony with.
“Raoul… the dragon you transformed into, it was once named Molveth. It, in decades long past, was known as the Dragon Emperor… it, with its army of dragons, waged a campaign of terror across the world, killing many innocents in the process. There is no denying that, of all the dragons to lay eyes on within our quiet little village… it would have to be that one. And you transformed into it. Raoul, as much as I value, and am thankful for your contributions to Purefalls, I have the safety of the other villagers to think about, as mayor… I am sorry, but I have little choice than to exile you from the village. Please, pack for yourself whatever you think you may need, and depart this village… I do not want to be forced to turn to more unpleasant methods to ensure you abide by my decision.”
Crestfallen, Raoul went to his house, packed all that he felt he would need for survival outside the village, and took his leave of it. As he walked past the wooden fence bordering the village territory from the world outside, he briefly glanced at the village, then turned forward in despondency.
“Raoul! Please, wait!”
Raoul stopped, and his eyes widened at hearing the familiar voice. He turned to his back, to see Elina, along with the children, rushing up to him. “Elina…? Y—You would follow after me…? Even—Even after what happened to me back in the village?” “Raoul, for better or worse, you are my husband… you are the father of our children here, and nothing in this world can ever change that. Life, without you… it’s just too unbearable to think about! Raoul, we’ll get through this, together… I know, if we just take the time to think about it long enough, we can find a way to ensure you never take that dragon form again!” Raoul lets out a chuckle. ‘A way to ensure that I never turn into a dragon again, huh… my love’s got a point. Before I can focus on that, however… there’s something of greater importance I’ll need to get done. …None of the nearby villages or towns’ll serve my purpose, now that I think about it.’ “Elina… let’s find ourselves a new home. A home far and well away from here.” “Wherever you go, I and the children will follow your lead… my dear husband.” Elina, Raoul, and their children, set off on the road that they believed would lead them to their new home.
