reference clues
– loxors are the giants of my world.
– A tannink’esh is my world’s version of a dragon, but slightly different – such as it starts as an aquatic animal, then flies to high altitude volcanos to mate. It has a pair of fins as well as a pair of wings, and it doesn’t create fire, but can hold molten lava in its stomach, which is just below its neck.)
– faehins are the “humans” of my world, who have round ears and have no “magic” or essence abilities
Ku’Aya
I burst through the doors, took two running steps, and jumped down to the ground floor, skidding to a stop. My grin widened in awe as I looked up at the high ceiling and the exquisite decadence of past wealth turned sour.
Never seen such a high ceiling. I chuckled. What’d they build it so high for? Acrobatic loxors?
A wolf raced in front of me. It turned while skidding on the tile floor. Bristling its fur with its tail stiff and parallel to its back, it growled at me.
“What?” I asked. Twirling my staff, I meandered around him. “I finally found something Ami’s scared of.” Leaning back, I turned my head with a grin. “Castles.”
The wolf transformed into an 18 year old boy. Abirami stormed up to me in nothing but his gaaban.
I looked away, hoping my ears hadn’t turned red. The dumb, ugly tips always gave me away.
“I’m not scared, I’m being cautious.” He walked in front of me, trying to get me to face him. “And you should be too.”
“We’re here for the tannink’esh, right?” I pulled his garb from my pack and threw it in his face. “What’s so cautious about chasing something that drinks liquid fire for breakfast?”
Stepping past him, I froze, my breath caught in my throat. “Um, Ami…”
Unfurling the robe, he slid his hands into the garb. “I’ve told you not to call me-”
“We’re not alone.”
Upon seeing the scene of carnage before us, Abirami jumped in front of me.
Faehins? What were a bunch of armed faehins doing here? And… was that a tannink’esh? Did a bunch of weak, essence-less faehins defeat one of the most ferocious, mythical beasts in existence?
“Um, Abirami…”
The faehins were staring at me, and I didn’t like the look in their eye. It wasn’t the typical disgust, but it certainly wasn’t neutral acceptance either. Well, at least most of them were staring at me… I think a few of the women were eyeing Abirami.
Heh. My left eye squinted and a faint grin tipped my lips. Not likely, ladies. Abirami’s taken.
