I forgot to say that she has an artist’s eye, so she’s very observant of the lighting, shading, colors, etc.

    ENYDD

Everything was green. So full of life. I leaned back against a tree and watched as the sunlight peeked through the leaves. It was so amazing. So lively. The light made the leaves look like they were glowing. No, not glowing, like they were…alive.

I laughed. Carwyn would have been horrified at my repetitiveness.

I reached studied the picture in front of me closely. Closing my eyes, I tested the memory. It was there. I giggled. No wonder people thought me crazy. Here I was gaping at leaves and laughing for no reason other than that I was happy. No, not happy, joyful. Or maybe peaceful. Or maybe both of those.

Humming to myself, I walked through the forest. My song was cut short by a “huh” when I tripped over a rock. I sat up, taking in the air I had lost in my fall. A shadow fell over me. I glanced up and promptly let out all the air I had so recently acquired. The “rock” I had tripped over was no longer a rock but an arch.

    “Excuse me?!” I yelled.

On the other side of the arch was a gigantic animal. There was blood flowing from the wounds in it sides and its eyes. I retched, scrambling away. Yet, though I moved away, it seemed that I was getting closer to the beast. I stumbled to my feet and raced towards the forest. This place reeked of darkness and sorrow. Walls followed my flight. My legs gained a hidden energy, as the walls slowly began to join together in front of me. I needed out! The last green of the forest disappeared as the walls crashed together with an ominous thud.

I hurled myself at the walls. This was not possible, but the stone did not budge in the slightest as I pounded my fists against them. Realizing that my hands would break long before the stones did, I slumped to the floor and began to study the cavern I was in. There was another dead animal across the room. I quickly turned away from that.

A shrill whistle pierced through the stale air. I leapt to my feet. There were people! Living people! I laughed. I was not alone!

“Thank you!” I cried. I rushed forward to the people. “You don’t know what a relief it is to see you! I’d go mad if there wasn’t anyone else here! Well, not mad, but maybe depressed. Or scared. Or maybe both. But, anyway, I’m just so glad I’m not the only one here!”

They stared back at me coldly.

Amusement bubbled up within me. I must look like a fool, gushing over them like that. I cleared my throat and smiled politely. “Forgive me for my enthusiasm. I didn’t mean to make any of you uncomfortable. I’m Enydd Skvogaard. Who are you guys?”

It was then that I noticed how strange their clothing was. They must be from foreign countries though some of them looked like they were from different worlds. I chuckled. Different worlds. My chuckle died as I recalled the arch and the walls. Perhaps it was not so far-fetched to think that. There was only way to be sure.

“I’m from Mara. Where are you from?”
