I’ve actually read books where there was not a lot of emotion at all. It makes it impossible to connect with the characters when there isn’t much relatable emotion. And like what DragonGeek said, ‘show don’t tell’ rule is really important, which I don’t always see used right in fiction.

Another thing I hate is when a character has an extreme emotion totally unlike his/her character! It leaves me feeling cheated, because I KNOW that’s not how the person really is.
