Well… *waves* Hi folks, I’m Merie! It’s a pleasure to “meet” you all 🙂

As you can probably tell by my existing on here, I love books! I enjoy reading in most genres, but I always feel most at home in a fantasy world. It’s hard to pick favorites, so I’ll just list a few of my favorite authors: L.M. Montgomery, C.S. Lewis, Brandon Sanderson, Shannon Hale, Adelaide Thorne, Nova McBee, A.M. Sohma, Melanie Cellier, and watch me go on and on…

And of course, I love to write! My dream has been to become a published author for, well, almost as long as I’ve been in the storytelling game–which would be about ten ((!!) or so years now? I mainly write fantasy, preferably with a dash of adventure and just a little sprinkle of fairytale magic. Haven’t been as diligent with that in a while because *high school* but I’ve come to some understanding of what time management is, so Lord willing I’ll be more serious about it this year.  Now I’m greedy with my opportunities to talk about my own stories of which I have a great many, unfortunately, so I will do so below 🙂

Some other facts about me… I’m obsessed with worldbuilding. Tolkien’s not on the list of authors above, but that’s because he’s in a class of his own and because I’m weird and more often than not will, in fact, fall in love with a fictional world in lieu of the characters. I’m of mixed cultural heritage and somehow that turned me into a monster.

I also love fairytales–not Disney, though they’ve done a decent job, but the real gritty stuff. (Actually, I prefer Andersen over Grimm because the latter is a bit too gritty, if you know what I mean.) That stuff sneaks into my writing all the time as well.

Other than writing, my hobbies include drawing and baking and blogging. Other than books, I’m into the usual Asian teenager stuff–anime, manga, K-pop, et cetera, et cetera 😉

My current WIP! I first wrote it two years ago, and I spent way too much blood sweat & tears on that thing to just abandon it now. It’s an epic fantasy set in a relatively non-magical world BUT it has fairies so that’s okay. To put it simply… Pax ah’Liba is a young man who’s never been able to look a fellow human in the eye (Aarne-Thompson type 513A 😉 ), and what starts as a risky venture to find a captive [talking] tiger soon puts him directly at odds with the emperor of his great nation. Am I the kind of writer who revels in large casts of characters? The more the merrier. Curse makers and curse breakers, law makers and law breakers, kick-butt old men (okay, so maybe old is a bit of an exaggeration), and one too many secret identities float around the confused, lonely, and just a little angry human that is my main character. And no, I am not the cause of his anger. *backs away*

Anyway! This post’s getting a bit long, so I’ll stop talking about myself now. Thank you for making it this far! I can be a bit long-winded xD
