Actually, Brendin wasn’t going to take Malvat up on his offer.  And Brendin really isn’t the type to mutter reassurances to anyone, ever.  So I think you’ll have to rewrite your post a bit (sorry).

The key to good species names is in part researching real mythologies.  All the ones I listed I got from actual legends, and I didn’t make any up.

The ribbons aren’t a major plot point – I’m not sure how they could be honestly – but it’s just one of those small details I like to have.

Technically Ekavir is from my second WIP, A Syne of Marring, in a way.  That’s part of the same world that A Syne of Marring takes place in, though on a different part of the continent and a few centuries back in time.  That world is really large and there’s lots of stories in it.
