1. Get back on track with NaNoWriMo. (I’m like . . . two days behind at this point?)
2. Stay on top of schoolwork.
3. Do work stuff on time. Or, in the case of one of the work things, not too horribly behind schedule.

@sarah-inkdragon Hello to you as well! Things go quite well. The library is well in order, and I’ve half a chance of doing some reading tonight. And yourself?
@devastate-lasting I’d still call that a threat, just a conditional one.

*jumps at @catwing ‘s voice suddenly behind me* Oh, ah, you’re welcome. Sorry, I didn’t see you there.

Oh, cool. I might actually be able to participate in this one, since part of my NaNo project is new writing.

*has been sitting in a chair in the corner of the room for some time, since before people started showing up* Interesting. Very interesting. Nice to meet all of you . . . even those who just threatened me unnecessarily with glass shards. *wrinkles nose* I’m Sarah Narnathron, high bardess, Librarian, and Talekeeper of the Order of the Pen. . . . Why are these always such horrible timing for me? And by that I mean, why do they always occur right after I finish writing new material and shift back to editing or revising? Gah.

I’m sorry to hear you’re stepping down, Audrey, but I definitely understand how stressful life can be sometimes. Thank you for all you’ve done so far to make this guild pretty awesome.

I like what Catwing and Audrey came up with towards the beginning of the thread. And I second both SeekJustice’s comments and the question of how long it’s supposed to be.

This week is Fall Break, starting Wednesday, so I’m going to be a little more ambitious in my goals:
- 3+ chapters edited in Mechanical Heart.
- Paperback formatting for BitS finished.
- Blog posts written ahead of when they need to be!
- Start working on blog posts for the Magic Mirrors tour.

Sarah Narnathron replied to the topic CD Week 1: Virtues and Vices {discussion} in the forum Erekdale Writing Discussions 2 years, 3 months ago
As far as deciding what traits to give a character goes: I feel like a lot of my characters just show up in my head and say “Hi, here I am,” with most of their personality pretty well developed. So for me, it’s not so much a matter of giving them traits as it is just recording what’s already there. But some things that do inform traits:
- Family…

@emgc You’re welcome! And awesome!
@devastate-lasting I’ve handwritten my novel 5 out of the 6 times I’ve done NaNoWriMo. You just have to take the extra time to count up the words at the end of each page — though by this point, I can (and frequently do) estimate pretty well without bothering to count carefully. Then, when you validate your n…[Read more]

No problem! If you have any other questions, let me know! Writing Buddies are . . . I’m honestly not sure what the point of them is? You go to someone’s profile on the NaNoWriMo website, and you click the button that says “Add Writing Buddy” and they go in a list on your profile. The list is useful during Camp NaNoWriMo, because then you…[Read more]

I’ve done Camp NaNoWriMo 5 times the traditional way and once as a rebel. I’ve won every time, mostly because I’m too stubborn to lose (but also because I have pretty decent time management skills and the ability to say “No, I’m writing” to people who ask me to do things). I find it super helpful as motivation, though recently it’s been more of a…[Read more]

Sarah Narnathron replied to the topic 2018 Week 22: A recap on conflict and our new topic! in the forum Erekdale Writing Discussions 2 years, 3 months ago
Character development is cool! And I think the discussions on conflict did help some? They probably would’ve helped more if I hadn’t switched main projects halfway through. I didn’t want to keep answering with the same characters because then I’d get distracted and want to work on that story again, but I also didn’t want to answer with my new…[Read more]
