Wow! 🎉That must be so exciting! Hey do you have any promotional images for your book, because if you don’t mind I could share it on my social?
I however, have never finished anything, lol. I get to distracted by shiny new ideas. Which leads to what i’m currently doing which is discovery writing my way through an epic-fantsy duo…[Read more]

Thanks that was actually very helpful! I’ll try to incorporate some of those ideas. It’s one of my favorite character types too😉

Noah Cochran started the topic Introspection in the forum General Writing Discussions 2 years, 10 months ago
Introspection is written in many different ways, and I had a few questions and thoughts I wanted to discuss:
Do you use direct, italicized thought (where first person pronouns are used)? At first, I used basically none, but the more I looked at popular books, the more I see it used, and am thus tempted to use it (plus, I do like it, as long as…[Read more]

Noah Cochran started the topic Prose Questions in the forum General Writing Discussions 2 years, 10 months ago
I know what should and shouldn’t be done in prose is highly nuanced and opinionated, but I chose a few examples that I find myself running into, to ask y’all about. So, my question is, in the following examples, are they okay as they are, or if not, how would you write them? (aka, is there a better way to write them?)
Here they are:
Alfonso and…[Read more]

Thank you for the quote tip! 😀 I look forward to seeing you and talking to you around the forum! (And let me know if you wanted to keep talking – I don’t always know how and when to wrap up online conversions like this. :p)

I was a summer camp counselor at a Christian horse camp last summer, so I worked with horses for about three months there. I learn quickly and I’m pretty comfortable around (most) horses, so it’s a good fit for me. But I do feel out-of-my-depth sometimes since most of the folks I’ve worked with (both here and at the summer camp) have…

Art: That sounds awesome. Do you have a place where you share your art?
Dance: I don’t even know which style I learned. :p It was probably American.
Writing: That sounds very much like what I’ve done for my fantasy-ish world. I looked into the collection – I’m intrigued!
Singing: That’s cool that your sister is making an album!…[Read more]

I’ve been working a new job that’s been zapping my energy, lol. It’s not bad work–I groom horses and do some maintenance stuff on an equine farm–but it is pretty draining.
Ohh, that’s awesome, but having worked with horses for a good while, draining is the only right word 😅 I don’t know why everything in the equine world is so heavy.…[Read more]

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this! I was on a trip and then I was busy.
Art: That’s really cool that you do fashion design. It can be pretty tricky for me coming up with different designs and patterns, so I often resort to looking up references. :p What style do you usually draw? Are these designs just for fun, or are they…[Read more]

@noah-cochran Hello! Nice to meet you. 🙂
I’m no longer on the field with my family, but we are based in Mexico. 🙂
I do drawing, watercolor, oil and acrylic painting, though I’ve dabbled in other mediums as well.
That’s cool! I currently have … *goes to check WIP count* … four WIPs…[Read more]

Yeah, we did visit The Ark Encounter! We didn’t go to the Creation Museum, but I’ve heard that it’s really cool. I loved the Ark Encounter though! It is definitely my favorite museum.
Ohhh, that changes things. 🙂 Yes, he does get better as the series goes on.

Well, when I publish will depend on how much more I have to rewrite my book. xD Hopefully I’ll have it published by January of next year!
Ohhh, you’re only on the second book! Well, Tink actually gets a lot better as the series progresses! (although I still think he’s too reckless).
Kentucky…[Read more]

Tink certainly did have a great personality. 🙂 I guess I didn’t like him that much because he was too reckless, but I still think Andrew Peterson did a great job on his character. Yep, I’m the oldest in my family too!
Thank you very much! I work very hard on my blog, and I love to hear that people enjoy it.

Hi!!! My favorite Wingfeather character would probably be Janner, I guess just because he’s the protagonist, and also because I see a lot of myself in him. How about you?
By the way, I have been following your blog, Scribes & Archers, for a while now, and I really enjoy what you write!

Noah Cochran started the topic Character Voice Game in the forum Characters 3 years ago
Excellent character voice is extremely hard to pull off, and so like I do with all hard things in life, I decided to make a game out of it.
It’s a joke.
I’m kidding.
Mostly. 😉
Anyways, to the point. Character voice makes everything from dialogue to normal scenery descriptions pop off the page, but, for me at least, it is a very difficult…[Read more]

Thanks for the response, Elena!
But I’ll just type stuff and see what happens…
That’s exactly what I’m wanting. Just random ideas you have that I can think on and make new ideas from. 🙂
Make the rebels the evil ones.
I’ve juggled around that idea myself–it is definitely something worth considering.
Take something that’s a normal trope…

@r-m-archer Ah, I see! I haven’t read the Mistborn books or the Space trilogy… But I’ve heard good things about both!
Prince Caspian is one of my favorites as well! It, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and Silver Chair are my personal favorites. I honestly love them all, but I connected with the characters most in those three, as opposed to the…[Read more]

I’ve read the Narnia books more times than I can count, but I’m actually more interested in his nonfiction books. Of them I’ve sadly only read The Screwtape Letters, but I’m planning to remedy that… soon xD
That sounds like a lot of fun; I love gender-swapped retellings 😀 You must let me know more about it…[Read more]

Alrighty y’all, I love the dystopian genre, and I’ve been wanting to begin plotting a series for a while now, but unique and fresh plot ideas have been escaping me.
I consider the defining features of a vast amount of dystopian novels to be what I call the Big Three:
- An oppressive and autocratic government that is usually lying to its people…
