Woo-hoo! We got some serious editing done. Thank you to everyone who helped out!
Tomorrow night is the deadline! Last chance for edits! We are currently FIVE words over the word limit of 2500 words. If the remaining tweaks don’t get it under, then we can just take out the title. (Amazing title, btw)
Here is the…[Read more]

Alright, forget what I said about everything. We have the first draft. Jonathon ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT AND WROTE AN ENTIRE DRAFT IN AN AFTERNOON!!!!!!!!! (Sorry, I don’t know your username but I am NOT going to tag the wrong person again.) Everybody give a big round of applause for Jonathon! I have no words for how awesome this is. It’s time to start writing! Sorry I am getting this out so late in the day. In our brainstorming doc, we came up with a really awesome premise of a female alien attempting to romance a human. Unfortunately, it seems that we don’t have many people that can be a writer this month. It’s completely understandable—school is starting and August is a v…[Read more]

@karthmin So I went to the Jottopia website to link it in my post, and it’s gone! The website has expired and it’s twitter page is old.
But we can still do it without Jottopia, using Docs or something. The concept of Jottopia is that someone writes a little bit of a story, someone else writes the next little bit, and someone else writes the next.…[Read more]

It’s prompt war time! This month’s prompt: Write a story in which two cultures clash. The word limit is 2500 words and the deadline is September 1st.
Let’s try to finish brainstorm by Saturday the 24st and aim for the first draft to be done by Wednesday the 28th. That will give us time to edit. If you are interested in writing, please let me know…[Read more]

@karthmin When I filled out that form, I forgot that College was A Thing, and not only that, but it is A Thing that I am starting this fall. (To be fair, I didn’t know my schedule when I filled out the form. Lifehack: don’t switch colleges last minute. 3/10 would not recommend.) The time set up for the video call just so happens to be during the…[Read more]

@mckinley Speaking as someone who has never been published or close to published and is not an expert on this in any way, I have an opinion.
I don’t think it would necessarily hurt you to work across multiple genres, but I think it will be harder to build your reputation as an author, as others are saying. It’s like multi-classing in a…[Read more]

@catwing Okay, so I was thinking that the heroes would be caught in an avalanche (maybe caused by fighting with a giant snowman, I hadn’t decided). They should see shelter in a cave, where they would face a riddle.
The cave you find yourself in is dark. Even the ones who can normally see in the dark find it difficult to see through the shadows.…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>@karthmin I think I am called to write. It’s what I have wanted to do since second grade. Sometimes I wonder how exactly writing and editing fantasy fiction is supposed to advance the kingdom of God, but that is the path I am on right now.</p>
Of course, there is still time for life to throw me a major curveball and…[Read more] -

Hey everybody! We are going to do a roleplaying adventure tonight on the Character Lounge Chat. Show up as yourself, as a dragon, or even a sentient sponge. I will be the narrator of the journey. We’re going on an adventure! Here are some rules for the play.
You can be anyone/race you want, but you can only have ONE ability. Flight,…[Read more]

Princess Foo replied to the topic We've been thinking… in the forum Events & Guild Maintenance 4 years, 8 months ago
@karthmin I was thinking—part of the problem is that the guild masters don’t have enough time, right? Our guild helped that by making guild positions: Warmaster, Heartsinger, etc. Just by how much time I’ve spent on the prompt wars, they probably take up a lot of the guild master’s time. Maybe the other guilds could get positions too.

@karthmin I am on board for a rescue mission. Save the sweater!
I didn’t know what Enneagram was, but I took a test and apparently I am a 1w9. Or a 9w1. I don’t really know what that means. I looked at what a 1 was and what a 9 was and I think I fit 9’s better but I am mostly confused.

Last call for editing everyone! I think it could use some more “mystery” elements, but it’s very good.

Princess Foo replied to the topic I'm writing sci-fi… Help? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 8 months ago
@anne_the_noob14 Sci-fi is pretty much fantasy with slightly different tropes. You are going to want to be aware of these tropes, but the base worldbuilding will be the same as fantasy worldbuilding. Idk if you write fantasy, but advice that you find for fantasy should apply to both. You could also look up sci-fi tropes.
Looking at your outline,…[Read more]
