Michelle replied to the topic Enneagram Anyone? in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 5 months ago
The best book I’ve read on the Enneagram is “The Road Back To You” by Ian Morgan Cron.
When you are working on your character sketches, do you use the MB or Enneagram to flesh out their personalities? Do you find that helps you figure out how the character ‘works?’

I see quite a few people referring to the Myers-Briggs personality types, and I’m curious to see if anyone has taken or studied the Enneagram personality types?
If you’ve taken the RHETI test, what was your result? I’m a VERY solid 9w1. (The Peacemaker with The Reformer wing.)

We are in the Columbus area about once a month during hockey season. =) I’m a huge Jackets fan.
The research I did for the books was mostly reading articles, studying statistics, and following police reports and articles. But I don’t know anyone who has been in the specific situations I wrote about.
For Saving Detroit, I drew a lot…[Read more]

I agree with what everyone here has already said, and I’m not sure I can add much except to share my experience writing about the topic of abuse.
I don’t shy away from reading graphic scenes, and I fully believe they have a place in certain stories and genres. However, the stories that always impacted me the most were the ones that weren’t…[Read more]

Michelle replied to the topic The Importance of Fantasy in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 5 months ago
Fantasy is my genre of choice, both to read and to write, so this thread (although it appears to be inactive at the moment…) caught my attention.
One reason I enjoy writing fantasy is that I am kind of lazy. Fantasy allows me to play with the edges of what is real without worrying if my facts are right. =) I also like mucking around with…[Read more]

@r-m-archer – Thank you!
@daeus-lamb – I love the way language is so fluid, I enjoy figuring out how to say things from a different angle depending on the context and who is listening. I certainly wasn’t meaning to correct, more of a clarification, maybe? =)
And BTW – thank you for all the work you do! Keeping an organization like this running…[Read more]

I read two different thoughts:
1) If the success is gained by someone whose writing does NOT honor God, you would not be jealous of their level of success PERSONALLY, but on behalf of all Christian writers, and you would want a fellow Christ honoring author to attain he same level success even if it is not you. As others have…[Read more]

HI! Another ‘advanced’ author here. =) I’m going to focus on the more technical aspects of writing. Sentence structure, word choices, and style. I am also going to be working on making sure all my characters have a distinct and well rounded ‘voice.’ I write contemporary romance with alternating points of view and I have a tendency to let one…[Read more]

@h-jones – My fantasy books are about an ancient race of people who have lived among ordinary humans for centuries. Each book follows a different couple as they have their ‘first love’ experience and what their contribution is to re-uniting their people as a race again. =)
My Christian fiction books are contemporary urban fiction. I call them…[Read more]

My personal take on Self-pub vs traditional-pub….
Self-publishing isn’t for the faint of heart at all. It is a lot of work, but well worth the effort. I think having…[Read more]

I kind of like now. LOL I enjoy technology, but if I had to pick a historical period it would be medieval. There is something about a sword wielding knight in battered armor that is hard to pass up. =)

Michelle commented on the post, How Should Christian Authors Depict Darkness? 5 years, 6 months ago
“Philippians 4:8 commands us to meditate on the honest, just, pure, and lovely. When evil is portrayed accurately (the honest) with ensuing consequences (the just) to accentuate truth (the pure and lovely), darkness falls into this category. If we describe a human sacrifice merely to generate shock, that will not satisfy the qualifications of the…[Read more]
