I thought of a few books as I was reading this. A book somewhat related to the Great Depression: A Girl from Yamhill, by Beverly Cleary, but it was only a small part of her story. All He Knew is a free verse book about a deaf boy sent to an institution around WWII. I really liked that one. 😁

Yes, I love turtles! It all started with this random weird song called hug a turtle, and then I made a patchworkish green cloak (and became Lady of the green turtle) and then I found a stuffed turtle at the house were moving into and my costume was almost complete. 😁 so, yes, the only kind of pet that I have is the stuffing and stitching kind. 😉
